Why it’s worth watching: The stadium's name is derived from the school's
nickname, the Wolverines. Fans start arriving approximately 2 hours before
the 7 p.m. kickoff on Fridays. The Woodland Hills School District is relatively
young (est. 1987), encompassing 12 adjoining townships on Pittsburgh's east
side, and was formed by a court order, combining three high schools —
Swissvale, Turtle Creek and Churchill. Fans enter the stadium at ground level,
then climb 50 rows to the top. The field has no track, and the seats begin less
than 10 yards from the sidelines. PA man Paul Cramer's booming voice
details each play over the sound system.
